Alison Thomas is an artist based at The Courtyard since 1998. She has said of her experience working there:

I joined the artist community two years after I graduated in constructed textiles from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1996. I had no idea when I arrived how long I would be here and what a journey the studios would take me on! I absolutely love my studio and feel so lucky to be able to work in such an inspirational location surrounded by many other creatives. My studio has enabled me to develop my art practice amidst other artists and craftspeople who provide advice, encouragement and support. It has also allowed me to create a vital source of regular income through teaching. I began running Ayrshire Art Classes back in 2005 and still continue teaching children and adults today.
